My yard went from scary to serene, thank you Younge Contracting. Our project was large in scope, and intimidating. We have a flooding problem, amplified by being a foot lower than both next door neighbors. Aeric skillfully guided us through the goals, thoughts, snd possibilities to mitigate this problem. Most of our project is invisible underground. That’s where the real project is. But who can know that? What the neighbors can see is the prettiest backyard on the block. Previously it was full of chaos, half full of “formerly was pretty” spaces and half full of “never was pretty” spaces. Now it’s all healthy plants and a fresh green slate. But the real issue wasn’t the weeds, it was the flood risk. To accomplish this, we had to go all the way to dirt and below. Everything had to go: plants, clutter, and deck. Aeric pointed out a huge sag to our deck, Something like that was invisible to our eyes We knew we would lose the cramped and aging deck with this project, but we didn’t know it was a danger too. We dug huge trenches and for drain tile. This was much harder than it had to be because the dirt was absolutely filled with rocks. I now know why I couldn’t ever dig a suitable hole of any size without a shovel scraping limestone chunks. But we got them out, made the trenches, covered the drain tile with pretty dirt and beautiful grass. Aeric was good at guiding. I tend to be an odd mix of boring and boisterous, and my style reflects it. He helped me choose a nice concrete patio style that would help protect our property and be pleasing to everyone who sees it. I am very happy because it is both practical and charming. This project was very expensive and psychologically scary to hire. We just didn’t know what we were needing or how to get there, only a vague idea of what we should probably do and that we really needed this to be done right and well. We made a good choice with Younge Contracting.

Expert Site Preparation in Rochester, MN
Site preparation is the first step in any successful build, and getting it right in Rochester, MN matters more than most people expect. The region's clay-heavy soils expand and shift with moisture, and frost can penetrate 42 to 48 inches deep each winter. Without proper grading and soil work upfront, that ground movement puts foundations, slabs, and drainage systems at risk. Younge Contracting handles the full scope of site prep work: land clearing, rough and finish grading, topsoil stripping, soil compaction, and drainage shaping. We work on new home builds, accessory structures, commercial pads, and raw land development throughout the Rochester area. Every project starts with a site review so we understand what the ground is doing before any equipment moves. From there, we shape the land to match your build plan, manage water flow away from the structure, and leave a stable, compacted base ready for the next trade. If you have a project coming up in Rochester, contact Younge Contracting to get your site work started on the right foot.
